Individually assigned to develop an intervention to change behavior around contemporary use of technology. After thorough research, I focused on the harmful effects of phone usage in social settings.

DISCOVERY: Interviewed students and adults about their phone usage to discover the positive and negative influences of daily technology use. Through further research, I discovered app engineers borrow from casino game design that establishes technology's addictive nature. I developed insights like "In social situations, phone usage operates on a domino effect - one person's phone usage invites others to participate and do the same."

DESIGN: With the persona of "Phone Obsessed Phoebe" I completed two rounds of prototyping and testing. The first included diverse intervention solutions - campaigns, products, and softwares. After receiving feedback favoring softwares, the second round focused on apps to create the strongest change in behavior.

DELIVERY: My final project is an gaming crawler software that tracks social activity to encourage unplugging through a competitive reward system.
